Never heard of Dan Coats? He knows all, which is why he is the entire intelligence community on steroids. One man = whole community. That's how much of an intelligence rock star he is. As Clapper stated in the first video, he does not get any briefings, he does not have access to classified information. And as someone else said, the utility of keeping clearances for senior retired staff is so the current guy in his job can call and get advice.
So if they are not utilizing their clearances (and how can they justify it retired) it is hurting US national security making them inaccessible to their successors.
