Benchmarq Trading

Well i was working there for a while
I have to say their software is preety good
And has a lot of function
Only it use to go down once in a while sometime 2 times a week
Other wise their software is excellent ( Blackwood):D
When i go back to trading i will defitinly go there

Never really been into sharing too much of a good thing, but with the postings I've seen today re splits and erroneous info re platforms, I can say that Benchmarq (where I trade) is great...

The owner is clearly trying to build a business, and hence, has an incentive to be honest and upfront. He trades all day himself unlike most firm owners who just interview people and encourage scalping among new traders. I've never once been critiqued negatively about any trades I've made, but always offered an unbiased perspective and left to make my own decisions.

It's a pretty ideal situation for someone who has SOME trading experience and an independent bent - which is the case for me. Nothing screws up my trading like having to go over my trades or answer for a loss. That's BS.

If you wanna know more about Benchmarq, PM me.

I've been with them 6 months now with no serious problems and although Blackwood is slow and I do have problems from time to time it still works just fine for my style of trading.

That means I've got issues with the platform, because it is slow. For my style of trading, I need fast as possible.

They are also able to get you almost any platform you want so I wouldn't let that stop you from joining

Are you serious? So if I wanted Sterling Trader Pro or Laser they could get it for me? Is this really true?

I have to agree with Fader here. I didn't want to really expose Benchmarq b/c I found it to be one of the best kept secrets on Elite.

I've been with Benchmarq since September 2005, trading remotely from Seattle. I must say Nick(manager) has been very accomodative and is a very cool guy to work with. If you need intraday leverage(more than other typical prop firms), he's the one to contact. Blackwood charts arent the best but it does its job and the execution speed is better than most platforms out there. Plus, the software is getting better as they seem to be improving it every so often. If you need add'l info, feel free to PM me.

Plllllllllllllease bighitter. Anvil is blast from the past from the Watcher days. It has no support whatsoever (neither Hammer for the matter) because Assent is now owned by a private equity firm, which could not give a sh*t about traders and the trading business.

Blackwood on the other hand has a new version out every two weeks.

Get the facts straight buddy.

Quote from bighitter1:

john nyc in one word you're full of it. to compare blackwood to anvil is ludicrous. blackwood is old and outdated as jmowerey says. anvil has 100 times the hot keys and functionality of blackwood. the speed of anvil is unmatched and to even compare the realiability to anvil is funny. when i was with balckwood it was down 2 times a week. anvil has never been down in over a year

Agreed! When I was at Chimera (trading on Anvil) the thing LITERALLY went down three times per day for 3 or more minutes each time. Mind you, this was my first trading job, so I figured it was par for the course. I've had NO trouble using Blackwood - never been down once since I've been there.

I concur with all the positive comments about Benchmarq and Nick N. Even though I do not daytrade there anymore, I speak with him on a regular basis, he is a cool guy. Good peoples, as the saying goes. He has an interesting trading style from which anyone is welcome to learn. I still use some of the concepts in my swing trading.

Blackwood software seems to be an issue with some traders, I have no comment as I used smth else but from what I gathered, it has some problems and it has its advantages.

No I don't get paid to post good comments, just an honest opinion. For more info, feel free to PM me.

Indeed. Very pleased. As you know, it's always somewhat of a crapshoot when shopping these firms in NYC. I just looked for someone who I felt was honestly trying to build a business and who understood my need for independence.
