Ben Carson: A Muslim shouldn't be elected president

Here is the full interview. Judge for yourselves. The Islam question starts at 7:45
Thanks Captain O. I stand corrected. The later comment I referred to was from a later interview/presser (or speech).

"...Carson doubled down saying any president of any faith has to place the Constitution above personal religious beliefs.

"They must place it above their personal beliefs," Carson said during an appearance in Sharonville, Ohio. "If you're not willing to do that, you should not be running for president."

But Carson said he does see a way to support a more moderate Muslim for office, complaining that his comments were misunderstood and that "it seems hard for people to actually hear English and understand it."

"I said I would support anyone regardless of their background, if in fact, they embrace American values and our Constitution, and are willing to place that above their beliefs," Carson told the press conference, held before his scheduled rally.

But he said he could not back Muslims who embrace Sharia law, which is "completely antithetical to Americanism."

"...Late Monday night, Carson also retreated slightly from his Sunday comments, telling Fox News that he would be open to a moderate Muslim who denounced radical Islam as a White House candidate..."

this was your quote.

"Let me translate: When a situation arises and Federal law and States law conflict, Federal law always wins out period."

Okay I was wrong. I admit it. But, you are too are you not?

Btw I do find you one of the more respectable posters here and while we have in differences on opinions, I don't judge people by that and am willing to accept it. Hell knows if I didn't I would hate everyone here as I live in a red state (SC).

Thank you Carson for "clarifying". Now I completely agree with that.

The first rule when you find yourself in quicksand is to stop struggling. No one apparently told carson that.

What happened here is a neophyte candidate spoke truthfully then was hit on all sides by dire warnings that he was being discriminatory, etc. Of course the media smelled blood in the water, and since it was a conservative's, they went into a feeding frenzy.

Carson now sounds like a fool who doesn't know what he believes and worse, one who folds easily under pressure.

I don't know why conservative candidates even go on these shows. Hillary Clinton will be asked how she "feels" about "unfair" criticism of her family. Carson will get gotcha questions on whether the thinks obama is a muslim or would he vote for a muslim.

The Sunday morning shows have tiny viewerships mainly composed of Beltway insiders. People who will vote for Carson are probably in church and don't waste their time on Chuck Todd.
