For the clowns who worship websters layman dictionary, I suggest you pick up a dictionary of philosophy which trumps the laymans dictionary.
The Oxford Dictionary of Philosophy: "Atheism. Either the lack of belief in a god, or the belief that there is none."
The mere lack of belief, is the most common case for atheists by far. It should always be listed as the first definition. Implicit/weak atheists are what atheists refer to when we say "atheist", not the extreme minority of strong atheists who do not represent the overwhelming majority.
Get it now??? Too many dictionaries are dated and theist biased.

the dead. God spared Abraham's son. God did not spare His
own Son however.

From the Christian perspective, once a man/woman
accepts the sacrifice of Jesus you understand that your
life is no longer your own, being bought by the blood
of a great king. Since your life is not yours anymore
you are required to do as the Master (ie. Jesus) wants.
This may be trading or something else.
I used to post at another forum (not elitetrader) that had a number of
atheists in it, a while back. I found that anyone that believed
in their heart that God didn't exist was someone I couldn't
reach.
I will throw out some things below though, if anyone has
interest.
Do you believe in the existence of good or evil? If you
do, you must believe in God. Or to put it another way,
have you ever been treated unfairly?
There is also interesting stuff in science...

Keep pressing home on him the ordinariness of things. Above all, do not attempt to use science (I mean, the real sciences) as a defence against Christianity. They will positively encourage him to think about realities he can't touch and see. There have been sad cases among the modern physicists.

Have you considered that it is the story of how man listens to the voice of an idol [the god-of-this-world], to the point where killing one's own son sounds reasonable?

This is the perspective of the god-of-this-world, the one that makes it. It is not my perspective, or *our Father*. And so you have fallen in with the devil, to use the crucifixion to support his own cause. You are not a believer in the crucifixion, nor the resurrection, because you don't understand what they mean. How can you "accept" what you don't understand, or are not willing to understand?

The belief in the existence of good and evil is to "eat"/ingest the proverbial bad "apple", which is the symbol of the attempt to combine and "know" both Truth and Lies as one thing. The attempt to do so yields a world in which there is no truth, but appears to be "real" [think: true] as the appearance of truth grows side by side with the appearance of lies, like wheat and tares growing together, such that you cannot tell the difference, and decieve yourself.

And that is the whole point of such a world. Its cause is mad, and its goal is madness. You can believe in good and evil, but you will never "know" it as true. And you will drive yourself mad trying to prove it true. The world does try to prove it, like a Joker trying to take over Gotham City. Look at it's fruits, then choose again for Truth, not against.
