Quote from stu:
Just another churchy way of saying, the Catholic Church has had to bring itself, albeit kicking and screaming for a century and a half, into admitting the theory of evolution is now no longer the devil's own work against all it's own previous protestations (is that word allowed in the same sentence with Catholic?) , but will still irrespectively, continue to misrepresent everything and anything about the theory of evolution as it has done since 1859, wherever and whenever it can, including inserting the word theistic where it doesn't belong, to promote its own contradictory irrational unfounded beliefs on the back of science, and proceed to deny anything evolution explains which the Church thinks may question its dogma, or which it can distort to form more of it's own ludicrous pronouncements.
Amen.
do you have any idea what the hell is causing you to act the way you do when faced with facts contrary to your world view? a Century and half? Where the hell do you get your facts... msnbc?
More than a few years ago John Paul II affirmed a 50 year old papal declaration by pope Pius that evolution might be an accurate way to describe what has been happening.
And since it generally takes a long time before popes even write about an issue.. It seems the church was on board pretty early with the idea that evolution does not necessarily contradict faith.
Regarding theistic evolution - you have tried in vain to prove its wrong here for years. You have no proof any other view is superior.... give it rest.
"Theistic evolution and evolutionary creationism are similar concepts that assert that classical religious teachings about God are compatible with the modern scientific understanding about biological evolution. In short, theistic evolutionists believe that there is a God, that God is the creator of the material universe and (by consequence) all life within, and that biological evolution is simply a natural process within that creation. Evolution, according to this view, is simply a tool that God employed to develop human life."
