If Reagan didnt QE to oblivion we wouldnt be in this mess. Reagan was ten times worse than Obama, who spends way too little.

I dunno. I think school made a big change some decades back.
Used to be school was highly competitive. (Perhaps that was because people understood they'd better work if they expected to eat.) But some time ago, we stopped being competitive and kids were taught "everybody is special", "there are no winners/losers, everybody gets a trophy", "everybody is entitled". As a result, kids didn't become proficient in math and English, didn't learn to work hard for good grades.... then faced the shock of the competitive real world when they entered the job force and were not prepared.

True but if you can import all the great brains of the world why caring about local kids? This is sad.

All bullshit aside the fact that 50% + of all 18 to 24 year old individuals are not working or in school is very telling. It DOES suck to be a youngster in this economy. Back in the early 80's when I was this age I could find a job without a problem. Kids these days do not have the same opportunity.

Do you think this approach can change and maybe the damage could be contained to only 2 generations. All the 30 somethings I know with kids don't stand for this and have seen the damage this feel good shit has done to young people now coming into the work force. People that live in reality need to start getting involved with school boards and start standing up to parents that don't want to do their job.

And yet there are many sectors with a lack of qualified workers to fill spots, not to mention the trades which are having a resurgence. Those routes however will require that you get off your phone and Facebook long enough to actually do some work....
