Beginning of the end? Warren Buffett just dropped Walmart

So far the trumpet accomplished nothing other than talking. Let's see where this all goes. In the meantime you may wanna Google "petition" particularly suited to your legislative domicile. You will find out you can actually accomplish a lot in a democracy. If you don't find a majority or even x number of signatures then it simply means that you are representing a minority opinion and that others do not share the same grievances to the same extent than you do. Let's start cutting down defense spending. Let's start on a complete rework of the exorbitant health care costs. Let's start on abolishing this ridiculous punitive damage legal system that only adds cost (because firms, punished pass on the cost to shareholders and clients) but does not prevent evil doers from doing evil. There you just saved billions if not hundreds of billions of dollars. Then we can talk about the 100 or 200 million you try to save by cutting Senate and Congress benefits. The perfect analogy is that when you lose money trading and you then start to look for different brokers in order to save a few bucks on commission when you actually lose thousands or more because of a wrong approach to trading. Do you see my point at all or do you just like to argue for the sake of arguing?

I'd rather have people incentivised to work. Those 'for life' salaries are nothing more than massive unemployment benefits which will never give anyone a drive to actually work for a living. Pensions fine.... but no life-time unemployment benefits, while you're still very much capable....

And yes, there are more cost drivers that can be solved. But if we keep shrugging shoulders on little things, then those little things tend to get bigger and bigger.

Why do you think Western Governments run massive budget deficits? Because they can't seem to keep their (sorry, our) wallets closed and just keep spending money on shit that they shouldn't spend money on. That's actually one thing I totally agree on with the Trumpet.

It comes down to fairness and what is most easily achieved.

Changing punitive damages is changing the legal framework. I totally agree that that's a ridiculous system as well... but that would take a lot more effort.
Defence spending, hmm... maybe, I don't know... what if the shit does hit the fan? Whoever has the biggest hand wins.... That's sure as shit not Australia...

So, IMO it's about mentality and the "I'm entitled to xxxxx" mentality within anyone's mindset is wrong. That goes for people that don't think and want to be paid millions of dollars in damages because they burned a finger on a match.... but as well for pollies that feel they are owed for services in the past.

Anyway... let's agree to disagree...

That's just one story, I mean perhaps you have a point, but I prefer to look at raw data and make my decisions on what I see.

That's true, I am not saying that Walmart is a bad company, no matter how techy our future will be there will always be a place for good old brick-and-mortar. I am just trying to say that the best times for WMT are probably in the past.
 
Have you all ever stepped into a walmart lately? Ever view photos of typical walmart shoppers. Most walmart shopers do not look like anyone i know. However they could look like some of you, lol. Think they know how to shop online or even care to. I remember they said fastfood and TV dinners will do away with kitchens and restaurants. And cable TV will do away with movie theaters ...

Amazon is trying to create their own brick and mortar. In the future, retails will be a hybrid of online + brick-and-mortar. Whoever gets there first will be the winner. So, I am not writing Walmart off yet.
