It's an interesting question Penny. I sure it could be calculated, but I haven't done it. With the home appreciations here stomping inflation for so many years I would bet that 9k in 55 was much easier.

I sure understand your point and for so many people who are slaves to Visa and other forms of credit it's a valid one. Our situation is a bit different and the payments would have not been a threat to our current enjoyable lifestyle. The hope of course is that you get a return on your investment and for many years obviously this has been quite true -- I'm not convinced at this rate that over the next 5 years it will remain so.
