Batten Down the Hatches, Comptroller General of the United States RESIGNS.....

I know someone who invested well over 11 million dollars in acreage in Arizona back in 2005, during the peak of the housing bubble.

There's only two problems. The boom since went bust, and there's a law in Arizona that says you can't develop a subdivision (plat) unless you can prove to the state that there's a 100 year water supply that you can access underneath the land you own - which he can't demonstrate.

Ouch!!!

Quote from Cutten:

Yes it could have been said. The US economy has sufficient growth in the private sector part that it can support a surprisingly large level of fiscal & economic drag from government. Hell, most of Europe has an even bigger state sector, but they manage positive growth albeit at lower rates. France has over 50% GDP on the state-controlled part of the economy, vs a little over 30% for US - they have slower long-term growth but haven't gone bust or into depression.

The most likely outcome of Clinton/Obama/Bush policies (essentially the same in economic terms) is just a higher level of drag and thus lower economic growth. Most citizens will not notice it.

The way to solve this problem is not to moan about candidates, parties, or politics. Politicians and parties are representative of the general electorate. If you want more economically literate politicians, then you need more economically literate voters. So, start teaching basic finance & economics to kids starting age 11 and by 18 they will have a clue. They will then demand the same of their political leaders, and you will end up with more sensible economic policy.

Wow very lucid and brimming with horse sense. You have the post of the day award for today. No killing everybody in Washington, no economic apocalypse, just providing some financial brains to our next generation. Interesting concept. Here's hoping and praying some people wise up and learn economics without the pain it usually takes.

The pubic school system is there to produce willing drones. They will never teach anything that could possibly upset the apple cart.
The socialists have taken over all levels of education as evidenced by the Democrats blatant pursuit of the young vote. They know they got them. They trained them.

Wealth does not equal brains. Anyone present in socal near the end of this housing bubble saw this truth confirmed. Every moron and their brother who leveraged on property in the previous cycle as suddenly a genius.

AOL. Great military term by the way.

My post was not cynical, but rather realistic in todays world. If you think the liberals haven't taken over the public schools and colleges in this country you haven't been paying attention.

If you're young and not liberal you haven't been paying attention.
If you're old and not conservative you haven't been paying attention.
