I think it's the idea that people with tight and unyielding narratives have a propensity to focus only on those "facts" that support their narrative to the exclusion of all others. Here's what that mentality looks like in a different context:

I certainly don't think all muslims are "bad", but I sure think the ones that belong to the NOI are.
