Base Salary + Payout

Yeah, NYC isn't cheap. That's why I'm not in NYC! haha. Anyhow, I'm not saying one is better than the other. It's all dependent on who you are and what you want.

I guess one thing is though, as the title of this thread "base salary + payout" most prop trading shops don't have base which can be quite different in the first yr or even two while the trader learns.

that's all. in the long run, if you are super duper uper good, then i think prop trading shops are the way to go with 20-90% cut. But then again, what kind of positions can you hold onto? 10K+ overnites or several weeks if it's in a good trend? I don't know.

It seems that we agree on several major points about the overall state of the markets, employment, etc. (judging by the last couple of exchanges)....but I really want to ask again (not to bug you) about some direct sources for these positions (personnel dept's at certain firms or "head hunters" - or trade journals, etc.). I don't doubt the authenticity of your posts, I am just curious why I have not seen such information in the last couple of years.

Job titles are a bit vague, but I assume that there are more details printed somewhere, for candidates to look at.

If you can, just point me in the right direction and I'll see what's out there. As I said before, this is a good gauge of the Global condition of the markets (who is hiring whom, for how much, and to do what...is valuable).

Thanks again....

Don

Don,

There are postings every day on job boards. Just do a search. But since you have been "bugging" about it(nothing wrong with that since you want to know some facts and don't know where to look for them), I did a little search for you on Bloomberg(you can do it via the terminal or the website). But it's nothing unique. Tons of postings on Yahoo,Monster, and any number of job boards. So, there are definitely still positions out there. But unfortunately, NOT as many in equities as I pointed out earlier since the naz bubble bursted.

Here's a posting from Bloomberg. Enjoy:

the cha-cha's that Don and his "older, wiser and better-looking" brother bring in every year, I don't think they'll EVER need to <look> for work again.......I know their very successful traders and Don has several other business's in his background that have nothing to do with trading either

Good trading all......
