Barr lied

It's the Constitution. Presidents can fire any subordinate they wish to for any reason and at any time. Any law that Congreff would pass protecting Mueller would be struck down immediately by SCOTUS. --at least for now while the court still has Constitutionals on it. I imagine this one would be even go 9-0 even with the 4 progressives on the court as it's cut and dried. --Make no mistake---Mueller should be fired, but it isn't politically the right thing to do. Although, that may be changing.--Izzy

There is already a test for this. Can the president of the United States shoot a political opponent in cold blood and not face criminal charges? Of course not.

Now that we can agree the president can at least be charged with one crime under a certain set of circumstances we can agree there may be other sets of circumstances that may warrant charging the president with a crime.

What circumstances and and what crimes is what is open for debate.

Amazingly, at least one person here believes the POTUS is above the law.

@Buy1Sell2 still hasn't provided a cite to law indicating that NO laws apply to POTUS. Nor has he cited law indicating that SOME, or A FEW laws only; apply to POTUS.

So, insofar as laws apply to citizens, then those same laws apply to POTUS ... unless the law itself excludes POTUS.

No one has cited any such lawful exclusions.

I'm not POTUS, so it doesn't affect me; but if one is going to be preaching that the POTUS is above the law ... at least show us where the law states that.

So to me, it's more logical to first establish that the POTUS is excluded from at least ONE criminal statute; then we can debate whether other exclusions exist.

The onus is on the one making that (currently) unusual claim; to support that claim.

The President is the sole member of the Executive Branch of the United States. This branch (president) is responsible for law enforcement per The Constitution. This makes The President the chief law enforcement officer in the country. Thus, it is impossible for presidents to obstruct justice since presidents ARE justice. --They cannot possibly obstruct themselves. --Also Robert Mueller has agreed that sitting presidents cannot be indicted for anything. They may be impeached which is the remedy that The Constitution provides. ---Please read and understand The Constitution so you don't look so foolish in the future. Remember---The Constitution is a negative liberty document.

Anyone with any common sense can see that presidents are above the law. No president has ever been charged and/or convicted of any crime committed during presidency or as a result of presidency, yet many would say that evidence exists of crimes committed. ----Thus, presidents are above the law.

Then why did Ford "pardon" Nixon?

Notice that Nixon was never charged with a crime and Ford pardoned him in case he would have been. This is prima facie evidence that presidents are well above the law.

Technically, he's not the sole member.
The Vice-President is in there too.
No-----he is the sole member. When the Vice President takes over for the president, then he is the sole member. All the power lies with the president , not the Vice president.

"In case he would have been".
That sounds to me like prima facie evidence that the jury is out on presidents being above the law.

You guys just don't get it. Any president whom is forced from office or their term ends, will be pardoned by the next president. ---Presidents are above the law. Show me one president that has been charged or convicted for something they did in office.
