Baron's Crypto Trading Journal

Why are you not holding crypto in your own wallet?
It's more transparent for the purpose of this journal. I like knowing that if I need to screenshot anything for verification, I'm doing it from the exchange and not from some personal wallet.

I've been calling crypto short for a year

I had over 25 attempts of shorting BTC futures/hedged, and even though lost on futures, did well enough on options to show overall profits. Finally found near extreme highs, rollovers and always selling highs/hedged. This market is very volatile if not hedged.

Isn't the whole point of crypto that it's "on chain"? You could set up a wallet and post the address(es) here, and everyone reading can just look up those addresses at any time.

Can't get more transparent than that, and you'd reduce counterparty risk to zero.

Yes, that's true but I figured that the counterparty validation would hold additional value in the eyes of anyone who was a true skeptic. Hey, I may move it all to self-custody at some point, but for now I prefer it the way it is.

I disagree with your logic here. You got lucky and was able to move your coin from FTX to Gemini because FTX blew up. Who says Gemini will not blow up tomorrow? You are keeping your coins stored in shaky organizations, yet you have the safest option available to you, a simple USB stick you can keep under your pillow.

In retrospect, I'm actually grateful that I was able to get my account balances transferred over to Gemini. This past year has literally been a perfect storm of negative events... one right after another. From the tail end of Covid to Ukraine invasion and then straight into inflation city then followed up by Luna meltdown and now FTX implosion. Crazy!

Timing is everything. Currently at $14 and there is supposed to be a 55 MM dump coming.
I don't think there's any discrepancy that my last entry was a total fail. I take ownership for that, even though there were unknown circumstances at the time.

Meanwhile, if you'd like to donate to my personal relief fund via PayPal, here's the link.

Baron bought almost at the top.
Sunday after the close the top was confirmed and we started the short.
We are already down more than 10%. So the thumbs up were again stupid.
I will leave the thread now again to the "thumbs up experts".
How were you aware at the time of a (short term) top?
I don't know anyone who can recognize a top at the time.
Confirming a top would be in hindsight?

But the 20,000 floor has now well and truly been trashed.
Maybe 10,000 will be the next 'floor', after that never mind floors, just jump out the window. :)
