I think Baron is a forum design and marketing genius. He could probably start a consultancy for forums in other domains. Maybe he has one already.

They were never intermingled before or can you remember a single instance where someone in trading related forums ever expressed hatred towards another race or religion based on lies and falsehood and that day in day out over months? Anything before P&R was set up?

Of course there was. You're not listening. The whole reason off-topic forums were created in the first place is because everybody was putting the same P&R content in the trading related forums. Yes, the exact same political and religious discussions you see today happened over a decade ago, where emotions got high, opinions were strong, and people posted all kinds of wild shit. And all that was intermingled with the trading forums, so that's why we created the P&R basement.

Keep in mind that I've been doing this for 19 years. Any feature or forum that's on this site is there for a valid reason, and not because of random guesswork.

And if your overall opinion is that you don't like what's down in the basement, then please, do yourself a huge favor and don't walk down the stairs. It's your choice.
