Does it really make sense to have a state based on reliigon, whether it be based on Judiasm, Islam or Christianity?
Why do we not have states where all races, ethnicities are respected equally, is not that the best scenario?

Its always about how bad Israel is. All states have friends and enemies. For a state to succeed they need to justify their own existence.
Your saying Israel has formed allies by large purchases of weapons. That is called an import. States all over the world need to import food, guns, cars, software......all that business makes exporting politicians more friendly to that state.
The key is to have a nation that has economic growth, good industry, fair legal system, sound banking, internal security.
Israel has that. Companies know they will be treated fairly and their assets are safe from the Govt.
Palestine does not have these institutions in place. In fact it survives only on Israel industry and Israel/international aid.
I am sure if Palestine were to develop an economy and be able to buy things, the Russians among others would be more then happy to support palestine with their MIC

The US foreign aid to Israel is contingent upon Israel spending all of it on weapons from US producers. That is a form of corporate welfare for the mmilitary industrial complex. American taxpayer money given in aid to a foreign power, contingent upon that taxpayer money coming back to the US weapons makers.
While at the same time the US taxpayer give 3 times the aid to Arab countries. Whats up with that?
Israel has not formed allies, her only allies, the UK and US, formed her, and sustain her.
She did not exist as a modern country before she was created in 1948. Without UK and US backing she could not sustain herself, if she could, she would deny the aid, and survive on her own, but Israel knows this is impossible.
