I don't pretend to know the law in florida, since it seems to vary quite a bit depending on how involved Al Sharpton gets, but in general, you could use deadly force to defend an armed robbery attempt but you couldn't use it shoot a fleeing robber. The threat of bodily harm has passed if he is fleeing.
If he's half a mile down the road, obviously you cannot. If he's 5 feet away, you can justify it was part of the initial conflict where he robbed you. If he's still on your property or in your house, it's definitely allowed as he is stealing your property while on your property. Again, it's situational.

In Colorado, you are not required to determine whether or not the perp is armed. If an uninvited person enters you home, and you have reason to believe he's there to commit an additional crime (which I suppose to prevent you from shooting the UPS guy who opens your door and drops off a package... or a fireman, etc.), deadly force is authorized. The use of deadly force is not authorized if someone is just "on your property"... only if he's inside your domicile.
I've wondered what the deal would be if (1) you saw someone through a window on your property with a pistol in hand, or (2) a perp fired a shot at you in the house while he was not in your house... ??
Essentially the same in Florida. Any person who has illegally entered your home has established his intent without any doubt to intend harm. You are authorized to defend yourself with "lethal" force.

The two leading pols out of Baltimore are Martin O'Malley and Elijah Cummings. Both are pushed hard by progressive types for leadership positions. O'Malley for president and Cummings for powerful positions in the House. Because they've done well. Like in Baltimore. I guess.
And of course Nancy Pelosi is from Baltimore and her father was Mayor there.
