We live in Freeport on Grand Bahama;

Yes and yes;

Yes and you can but you probably want an annual residency without the right to work; $2 K instead of $20K;

My wife flies to Chicago; regularly ...

Don't you enjoy the latitude of being so close to the states from the Bahamas as opposed to Europe?

Yes, but I don't particularily look forward to going back; and I am going to Chicago for Easter.

I guess I just want to see the world; and, not as a tourist ...

Metooxx,

15 years ago I met my Swedish wife and lived in Sweden for 7 years.

We are back here in Southern California since Oct 95......and am looking towards the Bahamas for now. Europe was nice...and will probably retire there.

Bahamas are great, been here almost a year.

I have met some of the biggest and best traders in the world here. Professionally the best thing I ever did and we are all from Chicago; so it is not like coming from a small town.

I learned the most important thing in our business here; and before I was told it, I even thought I knew it.

If you can trade in a tax deferred environment you can grow an account into 10 zeros, as opposed to about 3% of that if you are subject to 50% current tax over the course of say 15 years ...

metooxx do you trade out of an office there with other traders or out of your home? i guess the other question i have is the most important -- where do you initiate inquiries? i imagine there are quite a few ways you can run into difficulties -- you must deal with reputable people and organizations. so where does one even begin?

We have an office; but I like working at home better.

You don't want to ask those questions; let me know if you are seriously interested ...

I have a question. How good is PERSONAL SAFETY in Bahamas ??? I have a friend who moved to Bermuda and the safety factor wasn't that great for him. Not that personal safety is good in the States I was just curious how safe it would be for a family. Obviously certain areas are unsafe. But in general, some places are not worth the risk even for more money.

I would walk anywhere on this island, a whole lot safer than the states ...
