When you go to a fastfood joint like BK or McD, after you get your order, ask them if they have any food under the "dead lamp". Follow it up real quick with "you know, the stuff you are going to throw away. I'll take it. Much better than tossing that food in the trash, such a terrible waste".

Language like that. It works really well during the late-night hours.
