Bad news travels fast

Quote from Cruzan:
... the bottom pretty much fell out at approx. 11:13 am ET... Something triggered over half a million shares being dumped in a minute or two. If anyone has a better news feed and can turn up the story or can provide an alternate explanation, I'd be very interested in it.
Quote from FXTraderWill:
Trade The News is usually pretty quick... it might report it after the drop has begun, but before it has finished.
Thanks! It looks like they were right there and could've been a significant contributor:

You should have put a stop in and you would be okay.
Yep. :(

While I do recommend having both TTN to monitor your position and having a stop in, I also would construct hypothetical scenarios in your mind in which your positions would rapidly go radically against you and prepare to respond to such price action before the news hits; it's not uncommon to see some guy sitting on the offer shorting stock for 10-15 minutes before it hits the wire (Trade The News first, usually) that the SEC and FBI are investigating said company for accounting fraud of up to $300,000,000... if any stock that's up on takeover chatter starts to rapidly sell off, it's probably becasue someone whom the market deems important said that a deal is unlikely to occur.
