Background Music

„Are risk-preferences dynamic? Within-subject variation in risk-taking as a function of background music” (M.Halko,M.Kaustia) - perhaps worth reading..

Listening to your favorite music (with the assumption that it improves our mood) seems to increase the appetite for risk and overestimates the perceived chances of winning without an adequate appreciation of the consequent risk of loss..Think about it before you turn anything on while trading :)

Doubtless several traders have learned that many of the problems experienced while trading are due to internal mind "noise". Our minds are limited far more that we think (pun intended) and it is hard for most to do multiple tasks simultaneously. Several years ago I learned that playing any music which requires some attention to listen to will improve my trading results and my working results.

Now, I no longer need music to trade well, but shut off the noise directly. (Eckhart Tolle) This experience is useful in most things I have done to improve them. Another term for this is flow. Trading well involves staying in flow once the knowledge part is well understood IMO.
