they did announce a special one-time dividend of $4.50 @ share on Feb 29th, "...payable March 31st to shareholders of record March 11th..".
The stock did gap down from a close of $35.10 on March 6 to an open of $30.50 on March 7th (closed about $30).
There may be an SEC rule that I am not aware of that records the "...shareholder of record..." a few days after you buy the stock.
in any case, absent any other news, your hunch is the most logical reason.
Q: anybody in the ETland know of such an SEC rule ?
