avoiding those nasty spikes

Spikes trigger early entries and stops on a mechanical system.
I would be very happy to discuss ideas that help me avoid those nasty spikes.

Avoid? I look for 'em! But then I'm not trading a mechanical system. Which stocks are you talking about?

This is one of the the reason why human being is still required in trading. My own experience is if there is a spike that triggers the entry, you may sometimes need to cancel the entey. It depends on the amplititude of the spike, of course.
