He got preferential treatment because he is an extreme liberal, just like Alison Mack of the Nexium cult, where she was a top official? 3 years is nothing but, a joke. Just like the 14 days they gave Felicity Huffman over the college cheating scandal. These guys should be doing serious jail time, every one of them. Felicity Huffman's charge had a maximum 20 years in jail so, 14 days is a joke. Avenatti should have gotten more jail time. He has other lawsuits coming though.
A trial is scheduled to begin in Santa Ana, California in the second trial of Michael Avenatti, the celebrity lawyer previously convicted of trying to extort Nike Inc. Avenatti faces 10 criminal counts on charges he embezzled nearly $10 million of settlement proceeds from five clients. He faces 26 additional charges at a separate trial including bankruptcy, bank and tax fraud
fed cases always were sus imo per Trump/Barr animosity. I hope affected parties get relief if there's an actual case there and the feds didn't just drop the ball.
The case fell apart because the Feds did not hand-over a bunch of material to the defense which the Feds held - materials which possibly could have proven his innocence (let me say I don't believe he is innocent -- but the next trial will determine a ruling on this). The Twitter thread beyond this one tweet describes the situation in detail.
well, the next question is why didn't the feds release the material? Were they out on a fishing expedition and were gonna get their ass handed to them if they did? We'll see if they just drop the case before a re-trial.
Looks like Michael Avenatti just got convicted for defrauding Stormy Daniels of $300,000 from her book deal. Despicable, snake in the grass got his due. He is looking at 20 years and this case is in Federal Court when there are minimum jail time that needs to be served. Turns out he has more cases in Commiefornia for more fraud. Lock this bum up and throw away the key. ExGoper and GWB and other ET trolls probably, crying their eyes out. Boo hoo. LOL
