Yeah, dude strikes me as a hot head...though alternatively one could argue he knew it was unavoidable that it'd be proven so wanted to be on record for other witnesses to attest that he claimed self-defense in the moment. Only thing that could save him now is security cameras....or just brush it off like Trump somehow seems to do, and Avenatti's been able to some extent.

I don't think you can claim self defense and hit your wife just because she hit you first. I think it would depend on whether your wife was intending to do real harm and was capable of doing it. His wife is almost 50 and seems small and not large boned. Most likely she was not going to do damage if he defended himself.
