Auto Trailing Stop vs Manually Adjust Trailing Stop

I am debating which one to use and would like to get some feed back on it.

Trailing methods:

1) auto trailing from entry
2) Exist partial position, set break even, then auto trailing
3) Manually adjust stop base on predetermine method.

I've heard great things about the chandelier exit (a form of (1) auto trailing from entry) but I've been unable to test it because I don't have the formula for excel.
