Nobody from Germany I have ever met questions that the word socialist in NAZI was anything other than a bait-and-switch by fascists who knew it was politically expedient post first World War. Their arch enemies were socialist who they called "Marxist".

They did not call them SINOs. They used much harsher language for socialists and communists. There were at least 42 plots to kill Hitler and many by the socialists.

I know a LOT of Germans - my wife is German and other reasons.
Trust me on this one: Germans are quite brainwashed about WW2 and Hitler. They have no more idea of the true, secret history there than anyone. Probably less, to be honest.

You trying to rewrite history ? Hitler was far right not a socialist. In fact, he tried to kill off all the communists in Germany ( plus the Jews, handicapped people, intellectuals, ... ). Trump like Hitler would run a facist regime with no elections if he were able to do so.

Since it sparked a candid response already I might weigh in.

First, a Hitler quote: "I shall take Socialism away from the Socialists"

Also Hitler: Sent thousands of political opponents, a large proportion of whom actual socialists, to death camps.

Hitler certainly had some overlapping ideas with e.g. Marx. He was however above all preoccupied with race and the imagined superiority of his nation and race over others.

So, saying that "Did you know that Hitler was, mostly, a nationalist?" or "Did you know that Hitler was, mostly, a white supremacist?" would be accurate to larger degree. The Germans didn't elect him because of socialism. Nor was it the driving basis for him killing tens of millions (unlike in the Soviet Union and Mao's China where e.g. 'class struggle' and weird economic ideas were strongly contributing causes).
