Yes, although the general evolution tends to go from liberal/Democrat to conservative/Republican, which would explain his early support for Biden ( who gives money to a political group at 18?!?) and his switch to Republicans. I'd also point out that Republican doesn't mean MAGA and maybe he just got overly offended by Trump.

He most likely registered republican to vote in Republican Primaries for an anti trump candidate.
