Attack on ET members beware

Quote from Gringinho:

If I were running a competing site to EliteTrader I could have a really nice time trying to ruin perhaps one of the best trader-talk sites on the net.

Not trying to be paranoid - just talking (tough) business.

If there isn't already some sorts of scanning of similar ip's and various nicknames coupled with excessive abuse or rabid behaviour, this site's owner really isn't protecting his investment of time and money.

Not that it would be easy to hinder anyone in spoiling the fun on this site, but it certainly pays to be aware.
I think we've seen some more frequent moderator activity as of late, so something is being done - it's really up to the forum participants to show their opinion about excessive abuse too.

I suggest the following:
pre-made ignore-lists - automatically updated by (a) certifiably sane moderator(s)

These could perhaps be tuned into various "topics" of "uselessness" that one would like to avoid.
This would greatly enhance the usefulness of this site.

Another solution is similar to scoring system like those on slashdot.org etc. where you get points and bonus point for usefulness, insightful, funny etc. Then threads are automatically "moderated" by only viewing the interesting parts to the reader.

That takes the fun out of being abusive - perhaps even a scoring system on how many views a single post has too would discourage some from continuing their rant. Perhaps even a public ignore count too - just for when one want to have some fun looking at the losers.

You hear, Baron, there are still things you can do to curb this bad influx and improve this site. Include some rating and classification system.

I'm not sure if there already is a module for this in the BB-systems software, but surely someone has given it a try.
Otherwise, an average programmer would quickly be able to do some hacks if you specified a general solution.

Excellent Gringho this is exactly what I'm talking about I believe that if we the legitimate members of this site can come up with more constructive ideals like this and pose these suggetions to Baron as a group then more action will be taken and ET will become what it is supposed to be and not the zoo that it is turning into.

If you are a legitmate ET member post your thoughts and suggestions here on this thread.

Your post here can make a difference.

i believe that the personal attacks that go on here are way out of line. for instance the traderbrad fiasco: he was exposed as being a liar and a fraud. that was his fault. but the personal attacks against ET members that only give personal opinions is wrong.

we are supposed to be a community of traders not disgruntle folk with an axe to grind.

Hi T-REX,

Here is just one more personal opinion/question. How many aliases do you have here on ET? Will you ever be exposed as a liar and fraud? Will it be your fault when it does happen? Or will the blame fall to someone else?

Been done, Samson, over and over and over again, which you'd know if you'd just do a search of Feedback.

I have known a couple of people that were as obnoxious in person as bashers are on ET!! One of them got run over by a car in a gas station and guess what, he thought it was coincidence that he knew the person that was driving!! There are just clueless morons everywhere, it doesn't show with most of us until we are safely out of reach of our attackees I guess!!

Hi T-REX,

Here is something that you posted under your Guardian Angel alias on 12/29/03 to pump your pretend garbage service at the convenience of free SPAM/advertising here on ET:

"Guardian Angel:

guess it all comes down to this:

Why are you in the market?

(1.) To make $$$
(2.) because you think you can figure it out?

If you answered #1 then simply find someone who is winning and trade along side of them.

If you answered #2 then good luck to you but I don't think you will be able to figure it out and you will lose $$ in the process.

I chose #1 and I have been making $$$$ since the 1st day that I started with the guy here at ET in the MENTOR journal "SCALPING 101".

One of the ways that you know that the guy is one of the best is because he is among the most flamed here at ET for giving away tutoring for free with no strings attached.

Another way that you know the guy is good is because he has posted literally hundreds of trades here at ET and is one of the best if not the best daytrader I have ever seen.

I follow his everytrade and I make $$$ most of the time.
I'm glad that I decided to follow him rather than continuing to lose money on my own.

Check him out and see for yourself.

If not, good luck. you will need it."

Goodness me but there are some monkeys on this site. Generally the ones making the most noise. But come on, lets not be girls. Traders are tough, resoursful people. Who really cares if someone has a go at you? Get on with it - I can not see how any one this sensative could ever make it as a trader. And if you think ET is bad, you should have tried the pits! First thing anyone ever said to me on the floor was 'oy, spoon cunt, kiss my fucking arse'. And that was just the start of it. why? because that's the way traders are. You can either cry, go home and do something else (believe me, I've seen it), or you just shut the fuck up, but your head down, take the abuse, and one day you're all best mates. If you want to make trading your living, you have to have a very deep inner resourse. Because no matter what anyone says, how hurtful any other trader or wanabee can be, that is NOTHING compared to what the market can do to you. In a way it's just part of the process.

If you want to avoid this, why not set up a new web site called 'elite trader for girls', or maybe 'supersensitive elite trader'. Until then, focus on the trading, focus on what matters, tell the monekys where to put it ( only once - if you keep responding, so will they - so let them have the last word - big deal) and sooner or later they will get bored. If you keep chattering like a bunch of old women, then the real traders will be the ones to leave, won't they?

Good trading to you all.

All of you miss an essential point. Of course I'd prefer a world that didn't include certain people. We all do.

However, when things aren't going well, people like Jack and TRex serve an important function: they make me feel so much better because, no matter how bad things get, at least I'm not them and never will be.
