Anyone locate any more traders (equity) in Atlanta? I'm a newbie trading from home and wondered if there were any daytraders in the area - prop or otherwise.
Other cities seem to have groups (like daytradersusa) organized where folks can get together and compare notes. If anyone is 1)aware of such a group in the area or 2) would be interested in starting something please let me know. pm would be great.
I went to the Atlanta Options Meeting the other day, and it was informative, however most of the guys there seemed to focus on option stragegies exclusively (ya think? ;-) haha.
Anyway, the presentation was on Futures and was pretty basic but non the less informative. It was 5 bucks at the door because they are buying books and videos that members can check out on a monthly basis.
It might be worth checking out for ya. The night I went the locals were pretty pissed off about cancel charges at IB or something.
The guy who is in charge of the MTA is Timothy Snavely. PM me if you want his email to get added to their email list. They however do meet very often. He tells mevia email that there are no other trading groups that he knows of in Atlanta, and I would assume that he would know best.
I contacted DaytradersUSA myself in October but all they could really offer was to promote the meeting to their database which I didn't gather would contain many traders from Atlanta.
There has to be more interest than the MTA and AO thing though because when I have been to things here sponsored by the options industry council and such they get 100 people or more that show up. (maybe it's just the free cookies though).
It's a shame though....the Denver Trading group back in Colorado brings in some good speakers and even though the just mess around with tc2000 and vector vest and stuff some weeks atleast you get to bounce ideas off of other traders. Atlanta is 4 times the population I think.
