At what point is it Obama's fault?

I was going to title this thread "Good Job Mr. President" or "See, we had this thing called the recession" (the latter being an obvious trolling of Ricter), but seriously - when is Obama at fault for some of this? One could argue it's the Fed (I do) and I certainly believe they are more to blame for this than Obama, although he did reconfirm Bernanke and appoint Yellen, so he's right there with them.

I know the hard right blamed Obama for the economy 16 seconds after he was elected, and the hard left has never blamed him. Where is the truth? When did he become responsible? More people live in poverty now than before the great recession. And we're on 7 years of the Obama Presidency.

the first thing Obama did was make friends with wall street because he mistakenly thought they were the economy. To this day I think he thinks the economy is something for rich white traders, not his concern, other than how to get their money and give it to the people.

Actually, no. I didn't post the ZH article. I posted the graphic from Visual Capitalist. ZH posted that graphic too, with additional commentary (which I did not quote). I originally did not post the link to the source because the source is listed on the graphic.

I'm glad to hear that at least you have embraced Obama being at fault, finally.

However, I'm not sure if it's a weak recovery or a very impartial one (recovery for the rich).

Shrug. You get the weak recovery pawn and I take the Great Recession bishop.

It's the reasons behind why the recovery has been weak that have been the source of our debates. You have yourself stated how little of the economy a president can substantially influence.

Except that it was never me who said Bush was not at fault for his part.

As for the economy and the President, I agree on the tactical level. But like the captain is responsible for all that happens on his ship, Obama is culpable in the deplorable economy and the lack of any recovery. History remembers bad Presidents. They don't remember bad Fed Chairmen so much. i sorta wish they did.

Does it take longer to tear a house down or to build one up again?

The latter, of course. And you'd have a good point if we could look at the house we were building and be proud of the foundation.
