At what point do we start to panic?

Chill everyone. The only time to panic is when its the end of the world. Its just fear mongering via media. If you're smart, stay out of the markets for a couple of weeks and let the bailout/s work its magic ... assuming it does work ;0

The problem was leverage, the subprime mess is just a scapegoat. Same as the evil short sellers and now the evil accounting rules.

I went out to eat tonight and had a 20 minute wait to be seated. On the way home, drove by Home Depot and Walmart, parking lots were packed full???

You were seeing the Matrix....none of that was real Neo.

"Only thing to fear is fear itself" FDR

But if you think rewarding the criminal behavior of the bad bankers and the dummys who took out loans they couldn't pay back, while at the same time punishing the banks that did their lending by the book and citizens who did not overextend themselves will help our economy, I have a bridge here in Miami I would like to sell you. It's preetty.

When you have to compete you compete with the current circumstances. If people were being lent monies they could not afford then that was probably part of being more competitive. It was up to the banks that do lending to accept or not to . . . Yes even the ones who practised caution will get caught up in the capital raising mess, but they'll proly be the only survivors and non particapants (for the most part) in the $700Bn bailout plan . . . .
