I think for this thread to be taken seriously, you might want to consider sharing and educating. That is the purpose of this thread.

I understand that you wish to gain credibility by first posting your successful trade calls.

It's funny...in all the other threads the posters demand trade calls....then discussion...

Here they demand discussion and ignore the trade calls.

I think that some have preconceived notions and have already made decisions about Astrology and about Astrology and Trading. My personal beliefs have nothing to do with my frequent posting on your thread.

Just a suggestion...This is your thread and do as you wish...

My detractors have no statistics that show that astrology does not work.

I understand.

Many traders are incredibly focused and they have had various journies...some to never be successful and others have found out what works and is profitable.

I notice your focus Suryananda and you are just another one of those traders.

Traders are special people in my opinion. I have a warm feeling in my heart when I read these threads and traders are sharing their experiences and journies. This is why I like you.

This personal message to you here publically has a lot of small words between the keystrokes. You cannot see them. But I thank you for posting here in ET and again I understand you completley.

Your thread is couragious...Your posting to a bunch of "Engineers of Trading"...."Mathematicians of Formulas" and "Trading Scientists"....Your art may or may not be excepted based on what you do next.....You are very brave. But remember you must be scared to be brave...Carry on Trader...

FWIW.........the following Astrological based projections are primarily for the Dow/S&P........... 1/18 to 1/25

There are a lot of cross currents now in my opinion. However my leaning based on planetary strength and aspects is we bounce up tomorrow (the 18th) testing and possibly taking out the highs ...........then move sideways, developing weakness into Thursday night. Then on Friday the 21st we again start moving higher for a few days, into the 25th.

Explain what you want and how you want it done. In fact, why don't you go do it and get back to us? You'd be doing yourself and everyone else in this thread one huge favor. We would greatly appreciate it.

You want me to prove channels and horizontal S/R works too? Seriously, these topics have been debated for YEARS to no end by the academics and by the traders. All we're going to be doing is TALKING. Why do you want to do that? It's already been done. Let the results of this strategy speak for itself. This thread wasn't a debate thread and that's what you want to turn it into.

If you don't like astrological cycles that's fine. You obviously have an agenda and that's what bothers me. It's not the science that bothers me. It's the fact that you need to be right so you can move on. However, you can't and that's why you're still here.

I personally have used cycles in my trading (simple ones). I have had great results adding a time factor to my trading. I understand very clearly what's going on and if it works or not. I have an interest in more complex ones LIKE astrology due to the vast number of people using it and the research on the moon which proves it works. So far this thread as confirmed this and that's why I want to thank Suryananda.

Here's a research paper for your pleasure which proves it has an influence. Are you happy? No, you won't be and that's what really worries me.

Athlon, I will read the studies you posted and post here my thoughts about it, it seems they are about 40/50 pages long each so it takes time to read it seriously.

I had looked into that topic a bit prior to this thread so I am well aware that there's been number of papers defending it and it is interesting to see they've been debunked in their vast majority. Maybe these ones are not... Not that I'm taking one side or the other. I'm just following what Logic says. One of the authority figures in this field, whom I mentioned earlier here is I.Kelly. There are many articles/blog/papers that use his work to debunk astrology.

Regarding mass pychology and astrology traders, I understand your logic. But what is your source that states that there is a significant volume of the market that is moved by astrology-based strategies? also what about the issue I raised about increasing algorithm volume vs discretionary/human based strategies?

That's a great question. I have nothing to back up astrology. :) That's why i'm here.

However, I'm near certain that if there is an edge (which I believe there is) I can use it to compliment my trading strategy. My goal is to pick turning points and the more confluence I have, the more confident I can be when taking my signal.

On a side note: If my memory serves me correct, holding period has been studied and been shown to possibly provide an edge. That's why I love cycles. Not only can it indicate exhaustion in the marketplace, but it can keep you IN a trade much longer than simple TA does or patterns do. Price action and multiple TFs help but don't provide the "predictive" ability that cycles do. And IMO that can be a huge edge over the long run (this based on first hand experience).
