Asian Futures Traders

Quote from IluvVol:

The JGB contract DOES NOT usually move by that much, yes during volatile times such as now 100+ ticks are entirely possible, but on normal days the range is more in the 20-30 tick ballpark.

I was trying to show TGM what he could expect on a normal
active day. And from what I see on the attached chart that
is what the ATR has been for the last few years. Whatever,
I wish him luck should he find JGB on the TSE interesting.

Learner, do you trade yourself for a living or do you work for a bank? Just curious...do you frequent any of the chat forums that pertain to trading Japanese instruments? I set up a chat room #AsianFuturesTrading on www.financialchat.com, would love to exchange ideas/experiences...

Work?? What's that? Been trading for 35 years and hope
to be still doing so 100 years from now.

No, I would bore the others in chat rooms due to the speed
at which I can type. Just never got the hang of it.

Thanks, it looks to be the best fixed income mover on the planet right now. I am currently in the States (I used to trade in Chicago and now in Michigan ---and have been planning on relocating again ---lol for about 2 years now!).

Hey that new "Mothers" stock index looks to be a real mover as well. Are they making that into a futures?

cheers to you guys and thanks for the charts.

One last question Learner----what kind of size is up in the JGB deck? 100 lots? The cash JGB is sick with liquidity and futures used to be.

Mothers is a fairly new index covering small venture capital
stocks. Doubt if there will ever be a futures contract on it
while I'm alive.

There is no liquidity problem with JGB futures. There are
usually 150 to 500 contracts spread over best bid or ask
1 to 5.

Thanks for the info. Mothers index would probably make for a great ETF.

How do you approach trading JGB futures? Do you purely position trade, with longer holding periods or do you also day trade JGB futures? What do you look at while daytrading those beasts in regards to indicators, chart patterns. Do you use any TA at all?

I only day trade, using 1 minute and 10T charts. I trade based
on TA and TA only. And I do not use any of the many indicators
that have been developed over the last 20 years. Just good
old-fashioned TA!!

Interesting. but i assume you use rsi and momentum indicators?
How do you work with tick charts? you mentioned you trade with Interactive Brokers? I do too and I think IB does not provide tick history only current tick data right? How do you then chart the JGB contract on 10tick basis? (I assume 10T refers to a 10tick chart, correct?)

No RSI, Momentum, MACD etc. That's all new, and I'm from
the old school. The only thing under my price pane in volume.

I don't use IB's charts. Up until last year I had a Reuters
terminal in my apartment that I used for 10 years. 10 years
ago Reuters' charting software was light years ahead of
any around. Today it's light years behind. They never kept
up with the software vendors. So now my main software
is eSignal, Ensign etc. That is what I use for 10T bar charts.

Bedtime!

I see I am about 3/4 of a year too late - but just discovered financialchat.com. The asianfuturestrader room was empty.
I would love to connect. Currently I am trading TW parttime (once or twice a week), but will do more starting october.
