The Federal Aviation Administration is lifting a ground stop on flights across the U.S. following a computer outage early Wednesday that resulted in thousands of delays and hundreds of cancellations quickly cascading through the system at airports nationwide.

Apparently the outage was caused by an IT worker incorrectly replacing one file with another -- causing the entire system to come down. This also serves to underline that the FAA is operating using decades old faltering technology that is effectively being held together with bubble gum and duct tape.
