The point here has merit of course. A lot of merit.
It is nice to see stupid being resisted in France but not at the cost of seeing the rule of law go out the window which is a lefty cause.

I have to respectfully disagree. What are the people to do when their leaders ignore them and sell them out? It's not like this is a new thing. It has been going on, here at least, for the past 30 years. The populist right have had it. We vote in a president who promises to build a wall and deport illegals and we get no wall, massive immigration and probably yet another huge amnesty. And the billionaires got a big tax cut, even as they kick us off social media and republicans say, well they are private companies ( and they have bought us off) so we can't really do anything.
We have unelected federal judges essentially running the country, them and a bunch of faceless bureaucrats who either ignore the president or attempt to get him impeached.
It's ok for the left to riot and attack conservatives. If they defend themselves, the SPLC labels them a hate group and their members lose their jobs and get prosecuted.
As I see it, we have two choices. Surrender or turn and fight. We know the choice the Romneys, Bushes and Ryans have made. Their role is to negotiate our surrender with minimal upset. The French are showing us we have options. Their country has been sold out to migrants and the Merkel agenda. They have had enough and have the balls to do something about it.
Oh, revolutions are more than okay when required.
Just sayin, not everyone participating in chaos has the end goal of replacing a corrupt, ineffective government and rule of law with a better government and rule of law. Some do and some just want a permanent mob rule.
For me, that is an appropriate caution when assessing others. Revolutions and protest are our history- as it should be but there is/are a newer ilk in this country and globally who are just protest drifters and are lost in space. Occupy Wallstreet was a prime example. Big, big media dominating protest. But not a single person interviewed anywhere could articulate why they were protesting beyond some generic objection to captalism.
Dont forget that France/Paris has had and continues to have an explosive and simmering problem with young alienated muslims rioting and burning periodically. I can see where if the rule of law collapses in the area based on worker protests that they might join in to work their own grievances and wish to see the government toppled- yet they dont necessarily play on the same team with the french more-nationalist oriented workers.
No punchline here. Just sayin. There are some who will promote a revolution to return to being more French or more American, and some who will join in just for a chance to destroy France or America. I try to watch my arse a bit and the countries arse too in such times.
The populist right, what is that? There is no such thing but you are completely correct in your analysis. The republicans once again promised one thing and paid off the wealthy and elites instead.
You can say what you want about democrats but they do get some things done. Whereas every time you can count on republicans leaving working people high and dry.
A $15 carbon tax, when passed on to consumers would raise everyones electric bill by 25% overnight.

I saw the French to be such proud people. Even arrogant about their culture. They would not speak English until you at least tried French and they could correct you. Their politicians were attempting to limit English speaking songs on their pop radio... Their international telephone operators would require you to speak French when all the others spoke English.

Look, as a Trumper we know that you are an idiot, please show your work. Besides, most good carbon tax plans do it gradually giving time for market forces to work.
It's my understanding that this fuel tax is not properly done. It's not revenue neutral.
A good carbon tax returns the taxes back to all citizens.
