article: Millionnaires Go Missing

Quote from college_trad3r:

Who cares, millionaires should be fleeced.
Let's hope they go to another country and leave the US! Only want the benefits of living in the US and not the disadvantages, then give up your US citizensship!!!

Guess you've been listening to your college professors. That being the case, a truism comes to mind:

"Those that can, do, those that can't, teach."

Keep listening to em, dolt.

Now, hurry up and get back to your socialist class and let us capitalists do our thing and make the wheels turn.

House cleaning services ask $20-25/person-hour around here.
?.....the "service" keeps $15 to $18/hour and the housecleaner gets $7 to $10/hour?

No. $20-$25 is for independents... who keep it all.

Larger "services" with employees charge more. I don't know what the workers are paid.

If his/her nick is an indication and he/she really is in college, then obviously too young and inexperienced to understand anything.... well, catch phrases maybe.... you know, like "Hope and Change"...

Going to college in Florida is supposed to be "fun". Going to college in Maryland is supposed to be "real work". Have you ever met anyone who has bragged about hiring somebody from a Florida school?........No, I didn't think so.
You have a good point there, but still, where is all the money going then?

I live in Montgomery County Mary........land too and what people do not realize is that this area is the third most liberal in the country.

Is it any surprise, given that, that taxes are skyrocketing?

Sandy $20 an hour is not hard to get in this area, it is the de facto minimum wage for anything close to a "professional" job here.
I tell you what. When the Gazette comes out tomorrow, I’ll look at the employment ads. I’ll take all the ads that have a salary, add them togther and divide it by the number of jobs. Then we’ll see the average wage.

Also, if this area is so liberal, how come so many rich people still live here? 3rd most liberal county in the country = 12th richest county in the country??? What am I missing here?

If you cut taxes you need to cut spending also. It's clear the tax cuts and spending increases of the past 30 years did not work. So, tell me exactly which programs you would cut to support the tax cuts?

As the other guy pointed out, $25 is what the company charges. The workers are probably getting no more than $10. You know like when you go to the mechanic and they charge you $90 an hour, but it’s only one guy working on it who probably gets $12. The other $78 pays for the sales clerks, managers, and business expenses, and then whole lot is left over for the owner.

I would venture to say, and this is just my opinion, there are probably very few “independent” house cleaners around here, especially one that make $25. Anybody charging that much would have a hard time competing with all of the Hispanic run company’s in the area.

Sandy note I said "professional" but even most secretaries in a law firm probably make $40-70k, if not more.

As for your second point....I am not sure what you mean. NYC is liberal and one of the richest cities in the USA, as are San Francisco and LA.

You think the wealthiest people do not tend to be liberal?

Actually Montgomery County, MD (i live here too) has a large concentration of highly educated people. I don't think its about wealth, but rather, a correlation between level of education and being liberal.

As a sidenote, most university professors tend to be liberal.

I think the wealthiest people tend to be conservative as they do not wish greater taxes upon them.
