Quote from Arthur Deco:

I have benefitted, if only marginally, by advice I received from ET members, usually privately. Let us suppose that you start your diseducation with a book like Achelis' "Technical Analysis from A to Z," an excellent book IMO, very inclusive and comprehensive. But how much of it is dross and how much gold? I have exactly four elements in my charting that got there because ETer's told me they believed in them and used them:

a moderately slow intraday EMA

fibs

the premium

testing the HOD and the LOD.

I don't have any systems built around them, and not for any lack of trying. But I do find them informative in creating a mental gestalt of the nature of the day.

I'll plan on it if my car will let me go downtown. I'm slowly coming to the same conclusion about riding the big kahuna. RT=Redneck Trader?

Quote from Arthur Deco:

Ah, yes, I will be there. But only if you and RT come. Just look for a shrivelled up smelly old prune with a glass of cheap champagne in each hand and two refills set up on the table.

What works intraday? That is an IQ test. I cannot trade range bound days, although some people here insist that there are signs and portents. I think they're lieing. Call me simple, but I think the only thing that works is riding the big kahuna. There ARE signs and portents for those. The only problem is that you have to be willing to sustain small losses for one to two weeks to catch the wave. And you have to learn how not to wipe out.

I have PMs and email dis-a-bled because I got badly mugged once. Still haven't recovered.

That code works for ANYTHING on a daily chart.

Arthur Deco, let me try the drinking, shooting and porn surfing before I get back to you.

It may not improve your trading, but it definitely relieves stress. If you have grackles in your yard, shooting them helps, too.

You can also stop in the burbs and take the metro in. RN is the one and only Redneck, sorry for the tripo. Re the big kahuna, the best trading advice I ever read was by Will Rogers: "If it don't go up, don't buy it!"

not much to add but just want to say i'm really enjoying this thread...keep up the good work

You wouldn't think it was so good if you could see who's tripeing it. Got my nine dollar camo jammies from Academy on. A Kel-Tec P3-AT .380 pistola in a SmartCarry holster over the right side of my groin (fortunately I dress left). I often fall asleep wearing it, especially after a half-bottle of vodka. Grapefruit vodka tonic in hand, in the same glass I went to sleep holding last night. Five dollar Target slippers on my feet with 500 dollar orthotics in them. Ratty old anklets too disreputable to wear in public. Last year's glasses perched on my nose because my mother-in-law sat on this year's 500 dollar glasses. A fashion statement mismatched stocking cap older than I am on my head because I make more money keeping the house cold than I do trading. Take anything I write with a lick of salt.
