Hard to start in on how many ways this is misinformed. Some have been detailed already, so I'll just say that you clearly haven't ever worked around tradespeople or come to know any of them. I'd guess that on average, in terms of raw intelligence, they're brighter than you. I base that assumption on the fact that you hold this opinion.

Is it really that hard to put a piece of drywall? or put down a floor? These are shit for brains jobs that anyone can do. I'm taking a math class with a couple of these types in it who should just quit now as they're really an embarassment. I dumped a girl back in college when I found out her dad was a carpenter.

My father retired 15 years ago and recently got a bill from the plumber.
My dad can find a problem with any bill.
He added up the plumber's time and the markup on the products and concluded the plumber was making a few hundred an hour.
He looked at the plumber and said I was lawyer for the largest oil company in the world and I never made that kind of hourly rate.
The plumber said that's why I did not waste my time with college and law school.
My dad then paid him and enjoys telling the story to anyone who will hear it.

The owner of the biggest plumbing outfit in the area is very high up in local republican politics. He is i the center of a lot of the photos.
When you go by his office you see rows and rows of trucks.
