Turab Lookman, 67, a theoretical physicist, was charged with lying on three occasions about his contacts with the Thousand Talents Plan, a Chinese government program aimed at funding and recruiting international experts. He has pleaded not guilty in federal court in Albuquerque.

Are you really trying to defend someone working at a top secret and above government lab willingly contacting, and allegedly even cooperating, with the absolute enemies of western life? Are you really so dense you don’t realize this is an extremely poorly disguised Chinese intelligence operation to capture western talent? Are you even aware they are copycatting Cold War era CIA tactics? Are you even aware Los Alamos was one part of the Manhattan Project and likely contains incredible above top secret military technology today?

Holy shit dude get your head checked. We treat our nerds fine, we aren’t nearly hard enough on traitors to the country. This person is getting off far too easy. Far, far too easy. Given who they worked for and what they have access to at that lab you’d have to be willfully blind to not realize why this traitor took sudden interest in the Chinese “H1-B on steroids”.

Many talented nerds need to compete with low paying techies from india to get a seat at the table. How is that fair? I blame corporate execs selling off our jobs to the lowest bidder to pad their pockets

Did we read the same article? Because the guy's been charged with lying to the feds. There's no clause saying where in the planet a scientist has to work when earning a degree

Lookman was not charged with sharing secrets with the Chinese government, but with lying about research grants he received under the program. The Thousand Talents Plan has become a contentious issue between the U.S. and China owing to its focus on cutting-edge, often dual-use research. Los Alamos Labs, part of the Department of Energy, was where the atom bomb was developed and continues to host ongoing sensitive research on nuclear technology and other areas of national security, making it a prime target for infiltration.
 
They say that China is the new America. America has a higher percentage of it's people in prison than any other nation on the planet, it used to be China & Russia. Seems like America with all this recent rhetoric is acting a lot like the old China.

Trump has either lied or told something that was not true without ever retracting it over 10,000 times since being president. The first casualty of any type of war is the truth.
