Argh new Vostro 3700 Dell Laptop has a high pitched noise

Quote from quicktrader12:

I was looking at getting the vostro 3700 until i saw this thread. Did you ever get rid of the noise?

I like having a 17 inch screen.

Also looking at Latitude e6510. Screen is only 15.6 but can get resolution of 1920x1080 v 1600x900 in the 17 inch vostro.

No! I think it has to do with the integrated graphics chip, but who the F*ck knows?

Now I use the laptop as a (sub)desktop machine with a monitor plugged in and the laptop under the table(on a small table) to hide the noise. Seems to work. And if I need more screen real estate I just bring up the laptop and open it up. Pretty nice setup actually.

I was getting tired of keeping two computers updated and now I can always just unplug the peripherals and move with the laptop.

On a related note, I think trading on laptop bites because you have to be looking down at the screen vs a large screen seperate monitor. And that just sucks for your posture.

I would go with the new XPS laptops with premium sound If I were you. And try an SSD for super quick startup and shutdowns.
