Are you proud of your ignore/block list? I know I am!!!

Imo it works like this; there are some unfortunates on ET who contribute little, total trading noobs who post one liners about nothing, some are bots, and then some who just enjoy a fight and communicate aggresively.

There are others who are intelligent, contribute and others who don't post frequently but at least put some effort into a thoughtful reply when they do.

Due to the fact there are probably scores of new post each day, placing someone on ignore is just a filter to weed out garbage.
There is also the problem, stupid nonsensical posts have a habit of making one reply which results in either a flame errupting, or probably just as bad, the stupid poster won't reply, ie, you have wasted your time trying to correct an idiot.

So, the ignore is good, it eliminates more posts about nothing.

As for missing the gist of a thread because of gaps..... forgetabout it, you are missing nothing.

Or those that you don't agree with politically, right Mick? :)

It is one effective way to filter out worthless posts. I am sure I am also, on others blocked list which is fine by me. I only interact with people I choose to interact with. Time is precious, why waste it?

Here's a perfect example. smallfil wasted his time on replying to a thread in which he has the OP ignored.

The post obviously was not worthless if he bothered to reply to it.

Moron.

My list is empty, too.

It seems to me that many people on EliteTrader are very sensitive with fragile egos. As soon as someone questions them or even tries to have a basic discussion they're put on ignore.

Snowflakes?

How do you know the post is worthless if you can't read it?

If you know the poster puts out garbage information, what do you think ET trolls post on a daily basis? Their past behavior shows they will not post anything of value. You are free to listen to whoever you wish. I prefer to listen only to select posters who actually, post useful information. That is my choice. I do not have to deal with BS disinformation which is plenty on CNBC, Bloomberg and other media. Now, I have to deal with garbage on the ET message boards too?

That is your choice. I choose to limit my sources of bad information and BS. There is enough of that everywhere.

WTF do I care... do whatever you want. Hell, try reading comprehension with your eyes completely shut if you really think that will help. My point is a naive computer filter which just drops all messages from a user isn't as powerful as an intelligent human being paying thoughtful consideration to content regardless of author.

Can the computer filter be helpful on occasion... of course. And, due to a whole host of reasons, such a filter is more useful for some than others. Use it as you see fit.
