You should have asked if they were progressive. That word sounds great but, used to hide their true colors of being an extreme liberal, radical Socialist or Communist in the mold of Mao Zedung or Joseph Stalin who killed millions.

This is one of the key points of conflict between the philosophical , economic and social camps that often gets missed.

Progressivism is totalitarianism in practice irrelevant of good intentions .

That's not true, it's all about degrees. The reality is it's the opposite of what B1S2 says, there is no black and white, only gray. There is a reason that the worlds happiest countries on average are slightly more progressive than the US despite our wealth as a nation.

Free market, capitalism and low taxes are very important. They incentivice innovation and wealth creation.
Look at Europe's left leaning countries, have very little innovation. Their economy is stagnant, and probably will implode not far in the future.

There are just too many left leaning people in our younger generation. Left leaning economy and policies don't work. Even China is adopting free market economy.
