So was this guy a far leftist or just the narrative breitbart et-al are trying to paint? Not saying it's not possible (just look at Breivik or Roof), but I've seen a nutter being a nutter be politicized before.
According to multiple articles today Congressmen are not allowed to carry guns in D.C. Now Congressmen are demanding they be allowed to carry.
GOP Lawmaker Wants to Let Members of Congress Carry Guns

A Republican congressman is calling for legislation to allow members of Congress to carry firearms after a shooter this week targeted GOP lawmakers.
"We aren't any more special than anybody else, but we're targets," Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) said. "This is exactly why there's a lot of fear of doing town halls at this point."
A Bernie Sanders supporter opened fire on GOP congressmen playing baseball in Alexandria, Va., Wednesday morning. He was gunned down by police, but not before he injured five, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.
Loudermilk was on the field when the gunman started spraying dozens of bullets, but he emerged unhurt.
He remarked that the District of Columbia does not recognize firearms permits from other states, which is a problem for members of Congress.
"If this had happened in Georgia, he wouldn't have gotten too far," the Georgia congressman stated.

It is my understanding that congressmen have to get permits to carry, but they can get them rather easily, whereas normal citizens in D.C. need God's permission to get a CCW.
That's not what multiple articles are saying today. We now have multiple congressmen making statements that all members of Congress need the right to carry a weapon not only in D.C. but in nearby cities located in Maryland and Virginia.
They may be referring to the right to carry in areas that are restricted by federal law to carry a firearm (Capitol building, for instance). But I assure you, a congressman can get a CCW quite easily in D.C., where citizens like you and I have a snowball's chance in hell. The same is true in Maryland and Virginia - both are difficult to obtain but can be done. Politicians have a fast track.
Then why all the demands from Congressmen in multiple articles demanding that they have the right to carry in D.C. and other local cities if they already can easily get a CCW. The Congressmen are not asking to carry on the Hill (where they are protected already), but elsewhere.
Maybe because, as usual, they don't fully understand the law before they get in front of a microphone.
DC is a "good reason" state when it comes to CCW. Which means people have to prove they have a good reason to get a license.
