Are there any Jim Rogers' fans here?

Big fan of Jim Rogers. I have read all his books.

Why do I like and respect him? Because a) he has done what I want to do, both personally (adventures) and professionally, b) he is more impressive than many of his hedge fund peers who are less curious or thoughtful, or more egotistical.

I am surprised that discussions about Jim Rogers generate quite an excitement; however any meaningfully thread about market fundamentals dies after 2-3 pages.

Quote from Visaria:

Yep, thought about it....selling options naked, shorting gold futures etc is NOT investing, it is trading.

This distinction was pointed out to Jim by Jack Schwager at the beginning of the interview in Market Wizards.

If someone feels uncomfortable with being called a 'trader' when he would prefer to be called an 'investor', then that's their problem (snobbery?). I prefer to look at the substance not the form. Actually, the distinction is not really of much interest to me, the "investor" can call himself "Lord High Commander of the Sea" if he wants to. I couldn't care less.

Qu. How many legs does a dog have if you call his tail a leg?

Ans: 4. Just because you call his tail a leg, doesn't mean it's a leg.

Investing, does ''seem'' to be somewhat more socially respectable in some circles, especially the'' buy & hold forever '' crowd. Thanks for being precise.

And speaking of repeating patterns,
May magazine Futures[ includes options and stocktraders]
has a neat interview with Jim Rogers, still apapertly somewhat negative on stocks.

Excellant 6 or 7 year CHART of S & P 500 compared to Jim Rogers Index.
Hope this helps.
