Her father is/was a PHD professor in economics at Stanford. And her mother was a cancer researcher with an MD/phd at McGill in Montreal.

You don't think cheating goes on during exams? Also there's grade inflation. He could bomb miserably and still pass, because that's how a lot of these colleges are. Needless to say I'm not impressed. He can't even answer 17*6 correctly.
