Are great traders made or born?

I think its a combination just like anything else.

You can work hard and learn your way to be a good or profitable trader.

But i think the truley elite traders are born with it.

Just like a pro athlete, born with the talent but without working at their craft they would not be a superstar.
 
I have had varying opinions over the years, but I think I finally settled on what I think is a valid conclusion. I recently read a book on writing. The author said that competent writers can learn, with much practice, to become good writers. However, the truly great writers are born, although they do not become great without considerable practice. And so it probably is with any vocation.

Anyways, let's vote hardwork for the sake of making all the "hard-workers" feel good.
 
Losers are definitely self made, usually by teaching themselves repeated failure.

Before one can be made a trader one must be first born. These are simply not two mutually exclusive alternatives. I'd need a venn diagram to properly explain, but if you don't conceptually understand the flaw in this discussion you are not a trader.
