A study funded by the US government has concluded that conservatism can be explained psychologically as a set of neuroses rooted in "fear and aggression, dogmatism and the intolerance of ambiguity".
Since most democrats would rather be doctors, engineers or lawyers, it leaves a vacuum in the military for the mentally unstable to easily fill.
That is why the army attracts the mentally unstable little napolean-wanna-be's.
Interestingly enough, higher aptitude services like the Air force and Navy intelligence, tend to vote democratic.
