Are consumers getting gouged on health-care?

Absolutely. The ACA failed to address the actual cost of healthcare and in the kind of tragic irony only the government can deliver, the "Affordable" Care Act isn't affordable for taxpayers subsidizing the premiums while the individuals get hosed for the absurdly high deductibles.
We will all end up paying more, receiving less, and waiting longer for it.
no kidding, the first time someone gets hit with a $500 medical bill even though they have insurance will simply stop paying the monthly premium and start paying on the out of pocket bill Obama forgot about.

even free insurance doesn't do much good if you have a 5k deductible. ACA is betting a lot that a free yearly checkup will prevent a broken leg. Even if the subsidized premium is only $75/mo that's the first thing that will go if times get hard or they come out with a new iphone

In spite of that, no, because of that, they should have been increasing the supply of doctors. The plan should have been in place decades ago, it's not like this tide of elderly is a surprise to anyone.

No argument from me re tort reform.
"they" should have been increasing the supply of doctors? How does the government make people go to medical school?

We were talking about the AMA.
yeah, I got that, but I'm pretty sure your solution to any doctor shortage will somehow involve the government spending more of my money. The pathetic thing is, Obama just assumes there will always be an endless supply of Doctors. After all, who wouldn't want to be a doctor?

Yeah, ten years of med school and a million dollars of debt to start out life, im sure there will be tons of high quality doctors when we start limiting them to 150k per year.

Uhh no, I was not thinking of government, or Obama. The problem of the Boomer surge was pointed out to me over 30 years ago.

It's not just the Boomer surge. You appear to be old enough to remember when the FCC allowed the advertising of drugs on television. That coincided with (initiated?) an upsurge in the number and frequency of people patronizing doctors ("Talk to you doctor about . . . "). Big Pharma has been like hogs in a waller ever since.
