Jack, you say that the market precision available due to its granularity. So why don`t you stick with just granularity, why there is a need for the fractal expansion?
I do stick with granularity in each variable.
Granularity is what shrinks the market operating system elements to such a few.
Lego is perhaps the best example. Notice how few kinds of different elements Lego uses.
In Lego building blocks the fractal concept shows up very nicely.
In trading, the goal could be to take the full offer of the market. I often cite my reversals for the day as an example.
So the "Needs list" is constructed to be able to most easily meet the trader goal.
Once a person recognizes the strength of Mandelbrot's Theory and practice, the trader has another tool. Price movement segments become useful building block in parallel with the granularity based building blocks.
Mathematically, this completes the "enclosure" that contains all the tools needed to take the full off of the market.
If a trader trades on a fractal that has an observable slower fractal and an observable faster fractal he can use "failsafe" techniques.
I am toatally risk adverse, so I do not have risk in my trading. Operating in a failsafe mode eliminates having risk on the table.
My background is similar to Kelly's. We both worked at BTL and were MTS's. I came to BTL while in college and was made an MTS my first day of work. Formerly, I worked at WECO another branch of the Bell System. Because my father managed the reliability part of AT&T from BTL, I was vaccinated at a very young age.
This is a beginner thread where the OP is dealing with non starter after the fact labelled events not found mathematically on charts. His vehicle has no wheels nor power source.
failsafe is a system addition that comes very late into the trader's "needs list".
Granularity and fractals are characterized as criteria that are available for tool building.
I was present at IBM when the "bouncing ball" electric typewriter was built. Type was used from an older typewriter and glued onto a golf ball to create the type layout. Upper and lower case were achieved by tilting the axis of rotation. Rotation was used to select the letter. A motor replaced the typist's energy requirement.
As in type setting, typists could then just massage the keyboard to create text on paper.
my first group of corporations used the same cental staff. Our typewriters were very expensive and stored about 20 letters each. So typwriters has designated uses to speed performance of repeated tasks.
At that time, I had the largest storage facilities in the world for a given product.
All of the above contributes to my having a failsafe trading system. Notice this is an uncommon topic on the web.
I put up the skeleton to illustrate what taking the full offer of the market entails: Always knowing that you know.
A component of this is failsafe. The financial industry and the government lack this.
Maybe you have examined the skelton and the three fractals there. All TF's have three fractals. Multicharters do no recognize how fractals work (See five of the most frequently posting multichart people on ET).
Notice how a BM is sometimes preceded by a fast fractal BO of rtl at lock in of a given bar.
A person has to go through many steps to get to think about how markets operate and can be systemmicaly traded in a failsafe manner.
1. Searching is history.
2. Entry/Exit is no longer done.
3. edges have been dropped as a quest.
4. Predicting has been proven unnecessary
5. All Bayesian crappola had been trashed.
The BM and rtl are very rough looking BUT both deal with market volatility quite nicely. If the market exceeds its volatility, they step in and handle all marke PACE changes when the PACE change is occurring.
as you look at past charts not deleted by moderators, you can see "highlights" as well. They are processed by the mind in 10 to 100 milliseconds in parallel/series manners. Highlights have proven interrelationships. highlights provide the trader personal failsafes that blend with the market operation failsafes.
On my platform, it will crash if I use all of my failsafes and highlights. So I make them macros and keep my service from crashing.
did you notice, the computer and printer combo has replaced the typewriter.
Bayesian stuff has been replaced by finite math, as well. AI is now beginning to approach working like the mind does using granularity, binary pipelines and a fractal differentiating system.
Autism is curable. Give a kid a keyboard and an audio output and he can replicate the human life process of others. If he adds graphics you have the "Temple grandin Story". Most ET posters are exhibiting handicaps.
