I guess if old rules can be invoked to shut up Warren, seems only fitting.

It is very unlikely to happen. Even if it goes to court and the court orders it the Republicans control both houses and will just change the law. I predict the law will be repealed before this gains traction. I don't think many really care about his returns. He would be foolish not to take every deduction he is allowed in his business, and he can only take those massive deducts/losses on real estate development because Congress passed a law allowing it. Blame it on Congress.
I agree with you that Trump should show his tax returns. BTW, did you express the same concerns about Hillary Clinton, and the Clinton Foundation when she was Secretary of State? It's not just about paying taxes though he took an extreme view of a tax law. But a public official should pay their share of taxes as they should be held to a higher standard.
It's also about understanding his business interests and how they might affect his objectivity as president. Would you be comfortable knowing he's sending troops to defend Assad because he personally owes Russian banks money? Or that he created a loophole in his immigration ban for terrorists to come in so that he can maintain a hotel license in a hostile country? Or that the EPA drinking water standards are dropped so that he can sell his brownfield lots in Brooklyn?

Didn't the New York Slimes release some of Trump's tax returns. Did we ever determine where the Slimes got the returns from? Maybe they got the returns from the Russians.
